An integrative approach for a healing journey.

Folk Medicine and Flower Essences

This project was created as part of a master gardener program, where students are encouraged to develop an educational presentation that bridges research-based horticulture with community learning and outreach.

I chose this topic because I’ve always been curious about the deeper relationship between people and plants.. not just how we grow them, but how cultures across time have understood their presence, symbolism, and supportive roles within daily life. As my research unfolded, I became especially interested in how folk medicine, flower essences, and traditional plant knowledge coexist alongside modern horticulture science, ecology, and sustainability.

The project was never meant to prescribe or instruct, but to hold space for curiosity, connection, and exploration. It invites the reader to slow down, notice the plants around them, and consider how knowledge (scientific, cultural, and experiential) can live together in thoughtful, respectful ways.
